Toowoomba Regional Council’s Flood Recovery Program 2011 – 2016 has won the 2017 project management award for Community Service and/or Regional Development from the Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management (APFPM).
Council infrastructure committee chair Carol Taylor said the accolade reflected the council’s commitment to delivering effective and efficient programs that benefit communities throughout the region.
“Council strives to give Toowoomba Region residents world-class infrastructure and this Asia Pacific title confirms that council is delivering infrastructure that represents value for our communities and with strategies to enhance our region for decades to come,” Cr Taylor said.
The international project management award was announced last week (October 24) at the Australian Institute of Project Management Conference in Melbourne after the council’s flood recovery program had received the AIPM 2017 national project management achievement award in the Regional Projects category.
Toowoomba won its category against other project entries from South America, North America, Asia and the Pacific.
“I am hopeful council’s hard work will be recognised at the International Project Management Association (IPMA) awards in Mexico in 2018,” Cr Taylor said.
