Residential estate set for expansion

Developer Maidment Group plans to expand Sanctum Estate in Townsville’s Northern Beaches area, lodging an application to create 146 residential lots.

The proposal before Townsville City Council would see five more stages added to the residential estate, including two public parks.

Townsville Acting Mayor and Planning and Development Committee Chair Cr Les Walker said this development application was another sign of increasing economic activity in the city.

“This application will be judged on its merits but it’s a great sign to have proposals of this size and scale being submitted to council for a decision,” Cr Walker said.

“This proposed development shows companies such as Maidment have growing confidence in our city’s economic recovery.

“This increasing confidence in our city’s economy is helping to provide more local job opportunities right across our community.

“Major developments like this are important for our economy because they provide jobs for locals from tradespeople to real estate agents.”
