Investment in Cyclone Debbie rebuilding aids turnaround

Report reveals improved confidence in regional economies

There’s a better outlook among regional Queensland businesses but confidence is still trailing those located in the south-east corner.

Offermans Partners in their latest quarterly report cite a recovering coal industry as well as agricultural commodity prices and investment in rebuilding following cyclone Debbie as influential factors.

Some measures were stronger than others. Business conditions and profitability were up but labour market indicators were weaker.

The report this month looks at the wholesale trade industry which involves on-selling merchandise to predominatly retail businesses.
