Details are out for two major packages of Defence works coming up in the Townsville region.

Lavarack Barracks works

The Department of Defence is seeking tenders from suitably qualified contractors for building upgrades including installation of drainage pits, underground drainage pipes, underground storage tank, oil/water separator, concrete slabs, sewerage, trafficable heavy-duty bund and ramps in a six bay workshop at Lavarack Baracks, Townsville, Qld.

1:30 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday 12 November 2018.

Health facilities upgrade – Townsville

The J0105 Joint Health Command Garrison Health Facilities Upgrade Project will upgrade and consolidate certain Australian Defence Force (ADF) health centres around Australia.

This will include construction of new facilities as well as refurbishment of existing facilities, to improve the delivery of health services to ADF personnel.

The existing health centre at RAAF Base Townsville will be decommissioned and a new health centre will be constructed over the existing Airmen’s Mess based on a fully documented design.

As part of the construction, the Airmen’s mess will be demolished, as well as existing ablutions adjacent to the Spotless building.

The new build will be a single storey building at approximately 1000m2.

It will be a steel-framed structure with a steel roof and will include services and finishes typical of modern health facilities.

Existing facilities will continue to operate and the existing health centre will only be demolished upon completion of the new health centre.

The contractor will be responsible for protecting the existing operational health centre whilst demolition and construction works are in progress. It will be a comprehensive modern health facility similar to a General Practice Super-Clinic.

The preferred contractor will be employed under the Head Contractor Contract (Construct Only).
