Ads for mining, resources and energy jobs rose 62 per cent in April 2018 compared to the same time last year, according to the latest data from SEEK.

The recruitment group said Queensland led in the year-on-year growth with a 91 per cent rise, followed by Victoria (86 per cent) and and New South Wales (62 per cent).

Despite posting lower year-on-year job ad growth than its east coast counterparts, Western Australia was the largest contributor to the sector, accounting for 800 new job ads.

Across the board national new job ads recorded a rise of 16.5 per cent in April compared to this time last year, and experienced modest month-on-month growth of 1 per cent.

Community services was another high growth sector, with aged and disability support spurring demand.

Economists at Goldman Sachs estimate that about 50,000 jobs were created as a result of the NDIS in 2017, and another 100,000 may be expected by 2020.

Trades and services also experienced strong growth (up 41 per cent) as did consulting and strategy (up 46 per cent) and HR and recruitment, which saw an increase of 38 per cent in job ads compared to 12 months ago.
