Latest tenders for $215m water pipeline

Tenders are out for specialist boring and tunnelling work on Townsville’s $215 million Haughton Pipeline Duplication project.

The pipeline project will require tunnelling and boring work to allow the pipe to be installed underneath the Flinders Highway and a rail line – without having to alter the existing transport infrastructure.

Acting Mayor Les Walker said the tunneling and boring work needed to be done by specialists and was crucial to the progress of the project.

“This will be very technical work and it’s important that we get on with this tender to ensure the project has access to the best expertise when needed,” Cr Walker said.

“As council releases more construction packages for tender we can expect the numbers of jobs created on the pipeline project to continue to ramp up.”
