Former Pajingo boss takes on Walford Creek

General manager appointed for copper-cobalt project

Former Pajingo gold mine general manager Tim Benfield (below) is taking the reins at Aeon Metals’ Walford Creek project in north-west Queensland.

As general manager of the copper-cobalt project, Mr Benfield’s key role will be to co-ordinate all Walford Creek feasibility items including mining, metallurgy, environmental, infrastructure and logistics issues, as well as managing the permitting, construction
and operation of the Walford Creek asset.

“We are very pleased to welcome Tim to the Aeon team at this exciting time,” managing director Hamish Collins said.

“Our in-fill resource and extension drilling is well under way and the Walford Creek project is advancing its feasibility items.

“Tim’s experience in leading feasibility studies at other large-scale projects and his operations expertise will be particularly beneficial to Aeon at this important time.”

Aeon Metals said Mr Benfield brought more than 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, including senior positions in international and domestic resource companies.

This includes chief operating officer for Kingsgate Consolidated, general manager at North Queensland’s Pajingo gold mine under former owner Evolution, and general manager project development of Citadel Resource Group’s Jabal Sayid copper project, Saudi Arabia.
